1096’s are filed electronically by IT after the annual 1099 printing. If any corrections are made to an original 1099 after the January 31st filing, a new 1096 must be filed and these are done manually and mailed to the IRS.
These forms are short and very self explanatory. They require minimal information.
- HOA Name and Address
- HOA Tax ID
- Email address and fax number for accounts payable
- Number of forms being reported on the 1096
- Dollar Amount being reported
- Type of Form being reported
- Sign, date, mail to IRS address on the form
